Configure the 4G APN on the Index AMI Gateway: Colombian Operators and Custom APN

June 1, 2026·4 min read

The Index AMI connects to the internet via a SIM card (Nano SIM or integrated eSIM). For the LTE connection to work correctly you must enter the mobile operator's APN. Without this parameter the Index AMI will not be able to establish the 4G data channel.

Where to configure it

  • App Android: Android app: Main Menu → Connectivity Configuration → LTE - APN section.
  • Herramienta de escritorio: Desktop tool: template editor → LTE - APN Context section.

LTE/APN parameters

The Index AMI only supports IPv4 contexts. User and password fields are optional for most Colombian operators.

  • Context type: Fixed to IPv4. Cannot be changed in the current version.
  • APN: Operator access point. Select from the predefined list or use «Custom APN» to enter your operator's APN. Max. 64 characters.
  • APN username (optional): Access credential. Most Colombian operators do not require a username. Max. 64 characters.
  • APN password (optional): Access credential. Leave blank if the operator does not require it. Max. 64 characters.

Colombian operator APNs

Verified APNs for deployments in Colombia. Select your operator in the app or tool dropdown:

If the Index AMI already has a Noatec SIM, the default APN is the Noatec corporate APN. Confirm with the provider before changing it.

Using a custom APN

If your operator is not in the list, select «Custom APN» (appears in the first position of the selector). A text field will be enabled to enter the APN manually. Check with your operator's data team if you don't know the exact APN — an incorrect APN will prevent LTE connection and leave the Index AMI without data.

Configuration steps

  1. Connect the Index AMI via BLE from the app or tool.
  2. Go to Connectivity Configuration and expand the LTE - APN section.
  3. In the APN selector, choose the operator from the list. If not listed, select «Custom APN» and enter the APN in the enabled field.
  4. If the operator requires username and password (e.g. Avantel), enter them in the corresponding fields and select the authentication type (PAP or CHAP as indicated by the operator).
  5. Press «← Back» and then «Apply changes to device». The Index AMI will restart and establish the LTE connection with the new APN.

Verify the LTE connection

In the Android app go to Overview → Device Status tab. Confirm that the «IP Address» field shows an IP assigned by the operator and that «Network» shows the operator name. If these fields are empty after 60 seconds, verify that the APN is correct and that the SIM has an active data plan.
