What is the Index AMI HW3?

The Index AMI HW3 is a 4G IoT gateway by Noatec that connects electricity meters over RS485/RS232 to the cloud via LTE, with an optional WireGuard VPN for secure remote access.

Which meters are compatible?

It is validated with Microstar, ISKRA (MT174/MT171), Star DTS27 and Landis+Gyr ZMG405 meters over RS485 and RS232 (DLMS/COSEM and Modbus RTU) using compatible harnesses. Noatec also builds custom harnesses for other models.

Do I need my own SIM?

Not necessarily: the Index AMI can ship with a ready-to-use Noatec eSIM/SIM. It also supports your own SIM by entering the mobile operator APN.

How is it configured?

From the Index AMI Gateway Android app or the desktop tool (Windows/Linux) over Bluetooth (BLE). You load a meter profile, set APN/identification and verify the first reading.

Is the WireGuard VPN required?

No. The Index AMI can deliver readings over direct TCP or MQTT. The WireGuard VPN is optional and recommended when you need encrypted remote access for diagnostics or reconfiguration without a field visit.
