01 — Connectivity
Direct 4G LTE connection from the meter
The Index AMI establishes a TCP communication channel over the 4G LTE cellular network from the first power-up — no additional field infrastructure required. It includes a NanoSIM slot for the project's cellular operator, and additionally, on request, the Noatec multi-operator eSIM: coverage in 51 countries across the Americas, automatic switching to the best available operator, and a Noatec-managed private APN — no additional local contracts or physical SIM swaps. Readings reach your AMI Platform in real time from the first power-up.

02 — Security
End-to-end security
In AMI networks, security is an operational requirement, not an add-on. The Index AMI protects every data point with standards adopted by critical infrastructures worldwide (WireGuard VPN connectivity and ChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption). It also includes Last Gasp (Last Breath) alerts, magnetic sensor for cabinet opening detection and temperature sensor — all configurable — and HTTPS access with SSL certificate, ensuring full visibility and control for any field event.

03 — Multi-meter
One Index AMI, up to 127 meters
The RS485 technology in the Index AMI operates as bus master and concentrates readings from up to 127* meters on a single shared line — no additional infrastructure required. Compatible with DLMS/COSEM, IEC 62056-21 and Modbus. Ideal for substations, buildings and panels with multiple meters in the same cabinet.
* Theoretical limit defined by Noatec. Actual capacity depends on meter type, cable length and RS485 bus conditions. Meters are not included with the device.

04 — Installation
Agile installation, no special tools required
The Index AMI installs directly on the meter in minutes — no special tools required. Initial configuration is done via Bluetooth (BLE) from the Android app, the desktop tool, or remotely. Once in the field, all management is remote from your AMI Platform: reconfiguration, diagnostics and firmware updates without returning to the site.
